I currently have a standard 55 gallon tank with (1) 6” Oscar, (1) 2” Jack Dempsey, (1) 2” Green Terror, and (7) 2” Giant Danios. I’m using a Penn Plax Cascade 1000 canister filter (with spray bar) right now. I have another of the same filter never opened in the box still. Would having 2 of those filters in a 55 gallon be too much? Thanks!

No such thing as too much filtration if you have it set up test it out and see how it is with the one filter. If they seem high you can always add the new one later.

There is no such thing as "too much filtration". There is however too much water current (caused by the filters). Your danios will enjoy the currents, the other three not so much. Put it on if you want to, but make sure there is a place in the tank where they can get away from moving water.

Yah I was kind of thinking the same thing. Just wasn’t sure if there would be too much water current with 2.

If I did add another, would you recommend using a power head since I already have a spray bar? I currently have the spray bar horizontal at the top, pointed towards the surface of the water.

None of those fish will be bothered by the current of 2 filters, and more filtration could only help, because I consider that size tank will soon be too small for those fish (especially the oscar).
I believe oscars need 10 gallon per inch of size.
