just wanted to make sure that im not putting too much flow in my 240 with the cichla i have.. I have 5 Bahias coming in thursday at the 5" mark and already have a 7" orino
is a Koralia Magnum 8 (3200 GPH) and an Fx5 too much flow for these guys at their current size?

ive been reading up on where to place the powerhead to get the best flow for the cichla and came across an old thread on another forum where he had too much flow and killed about 20 smaller cichla...

any help is appreciated! thanks!

I can only quote from my experience.
I had 4 bahias starting around 1.5" in a 55gal with a 950gph pump. No problem and they were very healthy. At around 8"-10" they were moved to a 225gal with a 3000gph pump. Within a month their body structure expoded. I do not power feed but yet they appear fat/bulky and gain inches like over night. Good/bad?
I would flow the top surface. That way they can get out of the current if they want. Good luck. Can't wait to see them.
