What is the effect of having to much nitrate or ammonia in your tank? I think my fish aren't moving as much because I have too musch nitrate or ammonia. What do you guys think?

High nitrates can lead to premature death, hole-in-the-head disease, failure to thrive, stunting of fish.

Not good at all if you got high Ammonia and Nitrate. so do WC and add more ceremic rings in your filtration. :)

ammonia and nitrite are fairly dangerous, to the point of being deadly . . . other than in a tank that is cycling, you would ideally keep ammonia and nitrite at 0ppm

nitrate is more arguable, some would say keep it below 40ppm, others 20ppm, etc., . . personally, I feel best when they are at 10ppm or less . . .

nitrate is signifiicantly less toxic to fish than ammonia/nitrite, but the common wisdom is that prolonged elevated levels can lead to fish discomfort, susceptibility to disease, and perhaps even death as an indirect result

note that some fish are more nitrate-sensitive than others, e.g., Discus and Rams are good examples . . .

This is what you want.

And that doesn't give any false test?? I heard some brands give false tests on some levels of chemicals

The nitrate test is very technique sensitive. You have to follow the directions precisely....as in vigorously shaking the bottles and the tube for the full time as directed...not doing so will give you an inaccurate reading.
