Is it possible to have too powerful of a light? I have a 40 gallon tank with two 20w bulbs, I am going to soon get a 130w coralife light for plants so that would be 170w of light in a 40 gallon aquarium. I'm just wondering if my low light plants would still survive, or if I could only get high light plants.

Watts per gallon isnt an accurate way to figure out how much light your tank needs. You can reduce the light period or raise the light if your starting to get algae problems
