Fall river MA
I have 23 black phantom tetras 1", 1 GT 1", 1 Firemouth 1", 1 convict 1 ", 1 rubber lip plecos 1", & 3 chinese algae eaters 2" in my 75g.

All south american except the Chinese ones. Going to move them out later.

Firemouth and a convict.. One of those will kill each other when they get older and might kill the tetras.

I think the convict will leave the tetras alone as long as it's not protecting babies. Same for the fire mouth.

A lot of activity in that tank! If you can support the bio load with water changes, all is well IMO.

Seems like it would depend on individual temperment. My male GT attacks his own reflection most of the day. Hard to say how he would react to another large cichlid but I recently introduced some buenos Aires tetras to the tank and he murderer them all in short order.

You mean overstocked now or when the fish are full grown? Should be obvious that you are overstocked long term. For now should be ok.

He should be ok. The GT will be boss, the FM and Convict will be commensals and the bottomfeeders will mind their own business .....dithers will..................die. It's what they do. I'm done with dithers, tired of replacing them.

Dithers don't have to die if you're stocking the tank right.
Now if you're putting punching bag fish in there, then it's a different story. But I'm not a fan of punching bag fish.

The Chinese algae eaters get 10+ inches each. I just noticed the line where he said he is moving them out, so maybe it would work with a lot of filtration and water changes.

I'd personally keep the single GT in that tank with the pleco. Seems about right to me.
