Ok, when i bought my 55g setup from petsmart, it came with the Top Fin 60. I had it up and running for a few days and couldnt stand the noise is made. I went and bought the Marine Land 350 HOB filter and its very quiet.
I went and swapped the Top fin thinking maybe i got a bad unit, but the new one is the same!!! So i stopped using it.
I just moved my tan to my apt last week, and wanted more filtration since the Marineland doesnt seem to have a high flow so i decided to try the Top Fin along side the Marineland.
Still noisy!!! So i clean the impellor, shaft and housing in vinager and cleaned the inside of the impellor housing with a Q tip and more vinager. Clean it all, but back in and still noisy as ****!!!! It seems if you hold the tube up a certain way, and angle it, it quiets down a hair, but no where still as quiet as the Marine land. Its so noisy, i can hear it in the bedroom with the door closed!!! lol.
Is there any tips or tricks on how to solve this problem?? Besides buying a new filter?
