i just got a 300 wat topfin heater for my 60 gallon brackish tank should i keep the knob directly pointing at the middle bar inbetween low and hi i want it 78-80 degrees farinheight it would make more sense if they put 78 or 80 degreese on the heater:confused:

Set it where you think it should be, and adjust it depending on what your thermometer says.

i know those heaters suck i have one too, the instructions say that if u keep it in the middle it will heat the water sumwhere around 78 degrees, next time u buy one get a marineland, those do have numbers in the knob

Always check the thermometer, not the heater. Especially with those top fins. Knock it up one degree every little bit until you reach the temp you want. Next time get a marineland.

Gotta love da topfin I had to pull one out of storage last night to setup on a 10G, and I can say dead center was not 78. I went back to check and it was over 82, turned it back closer to the low side and I am now chilling at 80.
