Other than Arowanas, are there any other top water oddball fish out there? I had an arowana and it jumped out(same senario as everyone it seems, there was one hole in the lid and the aro found it).

I want something big, but probably less than 24" long.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Apollo Sharks are different, they are a schooling fish that get 6-8"s other then that I am not sure...

Well if you want a mini monster, you could always go with Butterfly fish - Pantadon Buchholzi

I have a feeling that anything long and skinny will end up being a polypterus endlicheri snack unfortunately. I would love a couple of real gars though. But only If I could get them at 8+ inches. And they aren't really likely to spend most of their time on the water's surface.

I love the butterfly, but they too would end up being a polypterus snack.

Interesting ideas though!

Any more ideas? I'd prefer a fish that is a bit more bulky.
