hello all i am wondering if i should be worried about my torch. the polyps or tentacles are splitting in 2. it seems to start at the tips. also there is a line going the entire way up the tentacle the same colour as the tip where it is splitting. everything seems to be going good, xenia is spreading and so are sand polyps. no brown to see at all on the torch, i looked for that. i was wondering if this was how it formed new tentacles. i will post pics tomorrow or later tonight. any info would be great.

alright here are some pics, one is with the actinic on and one with the daylight. i have seen some brown on the polyps in the last few days, could it be the brown jelly. i will try and get some better pics tomorrow and post if the ones here are no good.

Everything looks fine from here...did it change colors? Is it not extending as much as it used to?

the polyps have started to shrink or shrivel up at the tips, this is a new thing as of last night, i hate to say it but i dont have all the testing stuff i need, im going to the lfs today to get some all in one test strips. it will work till i get the reef, and saltwater kit. im doing a 5 gal change every 4 to 6 days on the tank, i have a 65 gal boyu skimmer on the tank, a penguin 150 and a aqua clear 20, also the smallest koralia fan. everything has been going good except for the clown fish i lost, looked like that brooklenosis, definately wrong spelling on that one. i will post pics later today of the torch and other inhabitants of the tank. thanks for the help

All in one test strips are crap & inaccurate. Get yourself a good liquid test kit. It's called an "investment". You're keeping a reef tank, man!

Also, dump the FW filtration. All you need is live rock, a powerhead & a good skimmer for filtration.

Some very good advice here. I am using salifert, but have done alright by API...you really only need nitrate, calcium, ph, and alk in a reef that is established.

yes i understand that the all in one test strips arent that good, i would rather have some kind of idea then none at all. and the fw filters are more for flow till i can get another koralia fan. so i did the test twice and same thing both times, the nitrates were sitting at 20 and everything else was ok. i did a 5 gal water change and i will test tomorrow at 6 and see if anything reads differently. i will be buying the reef master kit as i have the freshwater master kit and the nitrite and ph are good for saltwater. ill post pics tomorrow of the whole tank.
