Hey guys i just picked up 3 large peacock bass today. In the struggle of catching, transporting and releasing 3 pretty big fish, some of their fins got beat up a bit. Do you guy have any recommendations on how to help them heal better and faster? Thanks.

If you are not planning to eat them, use Baytril Injection. It'll heal at the same time prevent bacterial infection.

Injections make me nervous, both for myself and my fish. Anyone with experience with this, or a treatment with less chance of... well... disaster?

No, you don't just grab needles and start shooting. Preparation has to be made. First put the fish to sleep and then shoot it with Baytril.

Melafix seems to do the trick for me, and high quality H20.

Thats what i thought would work. Just curious, Is it just a coincidence that your name is Tornfins? lol

Yes, combination of Melafix and PimaFix does the job too. If not infected it does work.

The temperature has to be above 75 degree or most medications won't work. It's like bathing in a bath of Vicks medication. Try it, you'll love it.

Yeah i know. I had to do it with my reptile once and its something id like to avoid doing again.

Bingo. Clean water Melafix and an antubacterial food altogether works wonders for me ( and my fish if course)
