i can never remember the names. i think you mean the elongated version with long snout and yellow tail, yellow tint to body vis a vis red tail. if so, yes it grows much faster and bigger.
 
I have never owned altus. But I have owned most of the others and it is said that the altus is very comparable to the falcatus in growth, tempermeant, etc.

That would mean a slower growth rate then the yellow tail version that everyone thinks about or the Acestrorhynchus microlepis or falcirostris. All of my past red tail or falcatus grew about 3-4" a year. While my yellows grew 8" in the last 7 months.

Altus and falcatus are said to reach 8-10" at full grown. While the falcirostris can reach 16-18" in the wild.

Also I might add that there are around 16 different species we call barracuda. And 99% of the time they are sold mis-identified.


A altus will have a humeral spot right behind the gill plate, and have the same body shape as falcatus or red tailed.
