not bad but you also need to account for fittings

John I consider you an expert in the DIY MFK crowd, for fittings couldn't you take the sum of the fittings "lengths" and add them into the total pipe length??

yes that a very good way

I studied hydraulics and fluid mechanics in University. After several semseters involving complex calculations involving material friction co-efficients, temperature, viscocity, water mass momentum, tubular drag (how water behaves differently in the middle of a pipe as opposed to near pipe wall) etc etc our proffessor who was very well respected in this field gave us some essential advice for the field.

"Work out your calculations as best as you can and then DOUBLE IT to make sure!"
I also recommend his advice.
