Total Loss

well my friends i have not posted in a long time so i thought i would share what just went down, I have been keeping fish since the late 70's mostly saltwater aquria the past 3 day have been some what a upset in my fish keeping. My 75 gal fresh water tank went sour extremly fast, in the tank i had only a pitcus cat ..a small 2 inch common pleco and a few rosey barbs. the tank being very well planted and some drift wood..anyway i came home on tuesady and noticed somthing just was not right, as the fish seemed a bit standoffish ( they always siad hello for 2 years as i entered the room) but i saw no sign of any parasite or bacterial infection..thease fish were in great shape the day before buy thursday all were dead after looking in to all i had done i boiled it down to one thing ..feeding the bad frozen food ( Jack Wattley's coummity fish food wich helps in good fish health).. i have only had one other total tank loss before when i was a child.. i mean i have had my losses but never total wipe out..the food i gave them at this point was OLD and i blame it on this fact ..as i feed all my tanks many different things.. i am happy to say this tank didn't have some of my other more expensive fish in it
Yet to me even the lil old barbs were my friends.I have decided to turn this tank in to a singal species saltwater tank.. we all in the hoby have our up and downs and we move on

That's sad. I wish you the best. Did the package of the food have an expiration date on it?
 
Sorry for your loss. It's terrible to see a whole tank go....
 
Sorry...what were you feeding the fish?
 
thanks guys ... Gr8KarmaaSF was feeding them Jack Wattley's frozen coummity fish food , i have use this food for a long time...but i aslo feed the many other things..i believe the Wattley's went bad... really it's my fault i know better but i have had such a bizzy month
 
wow--thats horrible.. sorry for your loss! i had no idea that the frozen stuff expired, i better go check mine!
 
Did the frozen food thaw out at some point and go bad? Dont know why frozen food would go bad?
