For sake of curiosity, has anyone on here kept or taken care of one? There seems to be a bit of conflicting information on the internets, so i was just wondering if anyone had some first hand experience with them. I don't intend to get one myself, I don't have the money to buy one, and probably not the time to care for one... :(

i havent kept one personally, but i was seriously thinking about getting one at one point and so did a lot of research on forums n stuff, n they seem like really cool birds but their needs seem to be really different from parrots, like the width of their cage is super important as they need even more horizontal space, and they cant really be fed a commercial diet because of how their digestive system works they need all fresh stuff, but they seem super cool and there is a video some where where a person taught theirs to do this cool flip jump thing it was adorable, they dont seem to live very long though... oh and from what everyone was telling me its super important with them to NOT clip their wings because when they are jumping if they fall they could seriously injure their big beaks if they don't have full use of their wings, would LOVE to hear from someone who has actually kept one!!!

My uncle had a toco toucan. Cool and personable bird. Had an unfortunate habit of shooting its feces across the room. Found out this is a normal trait of the species. Shooting their feces as far away from their roosts as possible makes it harder for predators to home in on them.

There is a pet store in my area that has had one at least for the past ten years. They have it as their mascot of sorts.I dont know if it is the poop shooting type but it is a beautiful bird.

not too much, but one site said "they'll peck your eyes out" another "they have softbeaks and even if they do bit it won't hurt" or "their easy to keep" and "should be left in the wild" or "great beginner bird" and "should only be attempted by experienced bird owners"...

most sites seem to agree, but yeah...

A lot of information there, I can't vouch for accuracy but they seem to be a large scale breeders of Toucans.
Thats a nicely done website but it covers everything except the prices of the birds, instead of listing prices, you have to call them.

Yeah I figured they were pretty expensive if they did'nt list the prices on such a well done web site.
