Unfortunately in life money can become an issue, particularly in college. As much as I love this hobby I really need to downgrade, and have been in that process for the last couple weeks. The decision that i've been trying to make currently is the most difficult one of all, as I really only have the time/money to maintain one good sized tank right now. I've put a ton of cash in to this stuff and even though it's rewarding, the bills gotta get paid. I'm planning on keeping my 75g running and having that pretty much be it. Here are my options:

1) Keep my current stock from my 75 (polypterus, ABK, angelfish) and add a couple more polys to complete the tank, sell the flowerhorn

2) Keep my Flowerhorn, sell the polys etc.

I have a list of Pros and Cons for each scenario

Polypterus
Pros - Multiple Fish, Really got my in to the hobby, can maintain aquascape, have raised all since they were babies

Cons - Harder to clean sand, still want more fish to complete stock ($$$)

Flowerhorn
Pros - Personality, Looks of the fish, easier to clean gravel, don't have to buy anything else to stock

Cons - Single Fish, tears my hands up when cleaning tank, bare looking tank, gravel and not many other options as they move everything around

- As far as feeding and things like that I already have enough to feed either option for at least a year so thats no issue. The Flowerhorn and my Delhezi are my two favorite fish and really the ones making this so difficult. Obviously this is a decision I will have to make on my own, but I figured I would ask on here and see what other members would do. Please don't just say 'I don't like polypterus' or 'I hate hybrids' - Try to give a realistic reason as to why you would go with which option. Thanks

hmmm... looks like 100% of the votes say poly! in all seriousness though, i think the poly is better because it wont try to kill you, and I'm not a one fish kinda guy.

i say go with the polys..i love them myself...not only that but i think a tank looks better when there is more stock moving around as opposed to just one big fish...my roommate has a 55g with a JD only cause it kills everything else and i just dont find myself staring at the tank watching the fish like i do with my 75g with oscar firemouth and 4 silver dollars

Really up to you....

Time to pick a side :D

I'm no flowerhon or poly guy but since you have stated that those two are your favorites why not keep just the two of them in your tank, will they not tolerate each other?

not a chance, that flowerhorn will absolutely decimate anything that moves lol

have decided that im gonna go with y'alls opinions, watching my delhezi swim around i couldn't bear to sell him or my senegals mostly because ive had them since they were all babies. Gonna sell my 45 gal set up and when money calms down a bit im gonna set up a small saltwater set up :P - thanks for the input and if anybody else has anything to add please feel free to
