My family plans a trip through the USA in this August. We have 3 weeks to see as much of the country as possible. Only thing fix yet is that we will go with ANA and land in New York and will fly back with JAL from Los Angeles to Tokyo. Our goal is to make the best out of three weeks ad see as much famous places as possible. Like the EMpire State Building, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Golden Gate Bridge and so on. But USA is so big so can you give some advice what to do and how to do? And maybe some sugesstion what we should see and how we can go there and how connect it with other destinations? I would be very happy about your help.

If you going throughthe midwest do not miss the Indianpolis Motor Speedway it also has a great museum. A bonus if you are driving through during the Month of May.

What sort of transportation is your family using while visiting the United States (automobile, RV/camper, bus, plane, etc)?

You are from Japan right? Then I will tell you that you'll be disappointed with the large cities in the States.

I would do this:

North East corner:

New York/Philly/DC - One week - American history etc.

West:

LA(Hollywood but skip Disney land, the one in Japan is better)/SF(golden gate, napa wine country(if you drink), Yosemite)/Los Vegas(the strip/Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam) - one week

If you still have time, take a trip to Yellow Stone; World famous natural wonder and one of the best national parks.

I would not take train...kinda time wasting. If you don't drive I would investigate various tours that cater to Japanese tourists out of SF and NY; if you drive all the better.)

yes i´m from Japan. Thank you very much for that information. ^^°

We still have some time so we can do some planning. I would sure like to watch Yellowstone. Can you tell me if that huge meteor crater is far from grand canyon? If so we could connect it.

200 km away in the middle of nowhere in the VERY hot dessert that time of the year.

I suggest spring time for Arizona/Utah national parks.

hm its august, so we better cancel the crater. My little sister is just 9 years old and i think that would be too bad heat for her
