Hi everyone - I'm wanting to build a "tower" stand for some of my smaller tanks and thought I'd ask you guys for some suggestions. I'm looking at housing at least 3 tanks, 1 @ 30" long and 12" wide and 12" high, another at 30" long and 12" wide and 18" high , and a little 16" x 8" x 9" quarantine/hospital/fry tank. I'm working on a building site at the moment, so the stand will be (free!) wood construction. No problem with sourcing tools or materials!
My current set up for a couple of these tanks is in the pics below, and I'm aiming on keeping the same width (a few inches wider isn't a problem though), but going higher. I need to leave space for hoods and access above each tank as well. I will probably anchor the stand to the wall for extra stability too....
Any ideas and design pointers?
Thanks...

Standard ladder brace shelving with 2"x4" material should do it with 1/2" plywood for the shelved and 1/2" styrofoam under the tanks...heaviest shelf load is about 250lbs, 500lbs for the whole thing. So as long as your going to mount it to the wall the base can be the same size as the rest of it. Allow 8" on top of each tank for access (more it you can). Add 1/4" paneling to pretty it up if you like (I used velcro to hold the paneling on once to make it easier to do maintenance...worked good too). Sorry for the lack of conversions I'm lazy.

Keep us posted on your progress (pix!),

Thanks dude....that's a good start. I'm gonna draw up a plan soon and I'll keep your advice in mind. Don't worry, I'll document the build! Anyone else with advice/pics feel free to add your 2 cents...
