I spent hours last night removing the typical salt creep and scale from a setup I bought. I'm wondering if the tiny bits that I will undoubtedly miss from inside the overflow will affect my water chemistry in any significant way? My instinct tells me its nothing to worry about but I'm unsure. Using vinegar and a ton of elbow grease I got probably 95% of it off.

Nah, you'll be fine.

my 310 had salt scale buildup, I didn't even clean it lol, filled it up, threw fish in and not one casualty. still healthy as can be to this day.

No worries at all imo. With my Africans I used to buffer the water with a sea salt mix, baking soda, and Epsom salt mix.

When I want to clean a tank, I run it with bleach. Although I don't know how well bleach will remove salt.

Since salt is used often to treat freshwater illness, I wouldn't think a little leftover from a saltwater tank would hurt them.
