I was at good ol home depot the other day browsing, planning, tinkering ideas for new lights and I saw the track lights. Has anyone used these for fish? I was thinking building a hood and mounting them inside. The tank is a 135 gal 24" deep. I was thinking about using one that had a total of about 4 lights spread out and plus I want the shimmer effect ;) if you have used them before post a pic please!

I've never seen them built inside a hood, most likely because of depth. I'm sure however, that you could install them as normally intended to the ceiling and shine them through a glass hood. This would somewhat emulate what I myself have done with can lights and a ceiling canopy.

...Sorry my back two night lights are on, only good pic I had on photo bucket. They don't provide much light. I light the whole thing with 4 cans.

The good thing with using track lights is, that you'd be able to add more fixtures if necessary. As well as filters for lifting effects.

Good luck on the project and keep us updated!

I have not yet:/ I just saw some pics of someone's fish room and that had their lights set up how I was thinking. Just need to get of my ass and do it haha. I wish I could upload pics from my phone!
