Hello, My friend has a 110 gal aquarium he'd like to trade me for my 75. They are both of about the same quality (glass). It will be a 110 extra high... same footprint as my tank.

Is there any reason not to do this?:naughty:

not really. only down side is the cleaning and water tests. but other then that no. also does the filters/heaters come with it. because you might have to upgrade if they don't. over all go for it

No but I've already got enough filtration to get me through unless i add some fish.

Awesome... I'm going to do it !

Any concerns of placing it NOT across several floor joists? As in not perpendicular to the joists?

Well...I have a 150G, 100G, 55G, 15G in my 2nd floor bedroom. My 150G sits perp across several joists but its dead in the middle of the 2nd floor against a non-load bearing wall. I would say if your home is well constructed the tank should be hitting atleast 2 joists in the least it should be fine. Is the tank against a load bearing wall? I used to house 2*55G tanks on a dual iron stand...same gallonage, smaller foot pring for distribution...and running parallel with the joists...it was hitting 1 joist and also not on a load bearing wall. Well constructed homes you really shouldnt worry about your tanks until you get into the several hundred gallon spectrum IMO.

you're adding 35gx8.34lb= ~292 lbs. No reason not to trade, but be prepared to roll up the sleeves to clean out that thing

Get it done but while the volume is increased if it is the same footprint then you wont beable to have any more fish realisticaly because the surface area is still the same!
