You might be lucky enough to find a mom & pop fish store willing to accept & trade fish. It's been my experience that the big box stores will not.

Hey y'all I was wondering if Petsmart/Petco has a trade-in policy. If so, is it 100% payback, 50%, 20% or what? Just want to know this since I want to trade my female copadichromis/stigmatochromis for a peacock cichlid at petco, since their 3-4 inch peacocks are REALLY cheap (like 10 bucks).

Thanks
They won’t give you anything, but they’ll gladly take your fish for free. That’s a policy that’s becoming too common in fish stores lately

Corporate policy says no. Managers sometimes do have that flexibility from region to region so best bet is to contact the ones in charge of your local ones
