Looks like im gonna be trading my 11" Kelberi off for a 6" or so Azul to a local member. Havent had too many hits on my for sale thread but it works out b/c I was making room for an Azul if I could find one anyways. Seems like a fair deal to me, ive really been hunting for an azul and now I can get one no cash out of pocket.

From what you guys have seen how is the growth rate on an Azul? Is it like a mono or do they grow more slowly like an Orino? a 6" cichla wouldnt last long in my big tank so hes gonna have his own growout tank for awhile. Just wondering how long it will be before I can move it out to the main display.

my azul is growing at a steady pace..
i would say faster than kels ofcourse.
Once on pellets they grow as fast as monos though.
Just a side note, azuls can be super aggressive
p.s 11 inch kel for 6 inch zullie?
you should get some cash ontop of the azul

This Azul is apparently allready on prep foods and never gets live. So that is a great start. To me, that in itself is worth the cash I would ask for the difference in the value of the fish lol. This Kelberi has been a finicky thorn in my side for a year and a half. It went for a full year without even looking at anything but live. Finally after I decided it was going to eat silversides or die, it started to take silversides. Wont take them all the time but most of the time it will. This Azul can be as mean as it wants. It will have a tank of its own and by the time its big enough to go into the 350, it will be dealing with 2 brute Orinos and a big solid Mono.
