Trading Penguin 350 & $130 for Fx5

It's a Craigslist deal basically, both filters are used. Think this is a good deal? I'll be getting the Fx5.

im about to buy an fx5 for $125 with what it would come stock. its used, but its still good

I think it's decent, but I would shoot more for maybe a little less $$$. I don't like penguin filters at all, so its like a used Fx5 for $130 to me, which isn't bad because they really don't lose value if they are taken care of.

Oh, ok. Well I'm gonna use it on a 180 in the future, I'm in no rush to run it immediately. I'm pretty sure it would destroy my Dats in my 75g grow out.

That's what my initial thoughts were. I'm basically done w the 350 anyway. I have a 305 & 404 on my 75g anyway so it's not like I'm loosing much.

It won't. You can adjust the flow on an FX5 to basically nothing. It doesn't damage the motor.

That's not a bad deal IMO, but I would offer $100.

Well that's good to know, thanks. I'll see if I can get it down at all but unless I'm gonna get a new one (which I probably will eventually, over filtration is the only way to go imo) this is the best I've seen for a used one in my area. Idk if media is included or not but if it isn't approx what would it run me to fill it? I know it varies depending what I get but a ballpark guess would work for now.

If you get the used one, you could always buy another one for your 180 later. That would be perfect filtration IMO for that size tank.
