My Emperial blues had fry a few weeks ago i took the male out due to the female beating on him. The fry are now free swimers but the female just died last night she seemed realy weak and her sides looked a lil beat up but theres nothing in there but the fry. Anyone know what happened to her? hate for it to happen again

Maybe the male inflicted an injury on her weeks ago and she succumbed to it? Maybe infection, hemorrhaging, organ damage--I guess you could do an autopsy if you wanted.

not sure what type of cichlid it is
but mouthbrooders can go weeks to months without eating while they carry the babies in their mouths. during this period they tend to be weak and maybe sick.
at the same time, after they release their fry, they spend alot of the time fending off surrounding fish from their fry, which also puts alot of stress on them.

it is recommended that right after releasing the babies, isolate the female and feed her back to normal, before releasing it back into their normal tank so they don't get beat up by other fish

Well the fry is fine have 17 lil one's and they growing fast. Cool watching them grow and start exploring more of the tank. Cant wait till they start getting some color

Well now to try to breed my peacock pair not sure what kind they are. The male has a white top fin and the under tail fin is orange. Wish i could post a pic, working on getting a camera. Seems like they having trouble pairing up anything i can do to help them? like fish viagra
