I lost my little Hero Notatus tonight she got suck up in a strong power head pump:(. I have never been so sad to lose a fish. I'm crushed but I learned my lesson be more careful about strong power head with small fish. It was a stupid move on my part. I loved that little fish she was so sweet.

I'm thinking of ordering another , but then thought of getting a wild Hoplarchun Psitticus. I'm a little afraid of getting wild caught fish because they tend to be a bit more picky then tank raised.

Should I just get another Notatus or got with a 3" wild Hoplarchun? It's a 100 gal PH 7.3 soft water with 2 severums and a EBJD. all are still young 2-4". I know that they might not all fit in this tank once full grown.

How shy are the Hoplarchun ? Any info on thier personality or needs would be nice. I have been reading up on them.

I like both but if you want a fish thats more outgoing I would go with the Notatus. My Psitticus although very beautiful was also very shy and not very outgoing, thats why i don't have it anymore.

Thanks I will stick to the Notatus.

dude that sucks. Tough call on wihich fish to get. If I was sticking to severums I would get the notatus. But true parrots are very cool. I would try putting a sponge around the intake of the power head to help spread the suction.

thanks guys . I'm going to stick to the notatus I loved that little fish it was great.

I had a similar thing happen but with a rotkeil last year, and another smaller fish, it does suck. You should go with the notatus.

I have had complete opposite results with psittacus. As adults they are huge and extremely outgoing. Always begging for food and very personable. I have heard nothing but the same from others that keeps these fish as well.

Yeah, I would also have to agree with JGentry. The trio I recently picked up are some of the most outgoing fish I have ever owned. They practically beg for food. And I already have mine eating from my hand. You can't exactly expect that from every psittacus though.

Sorry for your loss though bro. I say go with whichever one you like better. They are both amazing fish, amd you won't be dissapointed with either.
