Training cats; tips?

Hi I have an adult pussy cat that i'd like to train to sit, roll over, open doors, and come on command.

So far I've successfully gotten him to come without treats but it only works about 50% of the time and he has to be in plain view or he wont come. He will also open doors but only when he's trapped and he desperately wants out. And the door has to be partially opened unless it has a certain handle configuration. I have all the time in the world to train him.

adult cat?? Good luck! Ive really never tried to train a cat so I may not know what Im talking about, but all the cats ive had have dropped intelligence on an as needed basis.

Um,... google Bridge and Target training. and behavior "shaping" in that. It'll give you hours of reading.
That's what they use at Sea World.
