?
got some 3-4" dats and iam trying to train them to eat shirmp....been starving them for over two weeks now still not eating.....n e one have n e ideas

Eat a few in front of them

Okay maybe not,
how big are the shrimp and what were they eating before?

start by feeding feeders.

drop them one by one.

after a couple weeks, drop some bite sized shrimp in there to fool them.

the catch here is dropping the food in one by one. the fish will start to recognize the pattern and will rush to get the foods as the they drop.

At that size, try frozen krill. Krill are smaller and easier for small dats to swallow.

try using live ghost shrimp or some smaller shrimp. when they are used to that. try dropping some live and small dead shrimp. then just drop small pieces of shrimp. try a gradual process. hopethis helps.

Start off with feeding them feeders till they are really gorged out.
Let them get really used to having a buffet spread of feeders for about 2 weeks.
Then starve them for a week.
Drop in bite sized shrimp.. if still dun eat... put a few feeders just to sustain them but not fill their hunger.
Starve for another couple days and try the shrimp again.
Contibue on and its just a matter of time before they take to shrimp.

Agreed.

I had great success with BW too.

at that size I would not starve them for 2 weeks. Get them some live food now, then do what the others suggest.

Also drop small bits of cut up shrimp in front of a powerhead, this is the only method that got my acestro altuses and hydrlycus eating dead stuff (occasionally).

I will not starve my fish for more than 2 days unless I'm on holiday (unlikely).
I would prefer to feed them what they like to eat, not what I want them to eat
