Hey peeps

Any tips on how you have trained your lurkers onto dead foods? I have a little miurus and so far only eating live shrimp. I am trying live worms (though may be a bit big) and frozen mussel, looking to get whitebait but could do with some tips. I am trying to use feeding tongs also so can move about but no luck

Everything said in the articles, movement is the key. At least it was with my T. suvattiis.

Have read those links before, thanks again. Just wondered what had worked for individuals. I must order some qood quality market shrimp and give that a go next, thanks.

with miurus you should probably try small silvery fish

With Hoover (my congo) the only dead food he will take is market shrimp or clams (all frozen then thawed). As far as live foods- only things he goes for is fish and crayfish. I do not suggest feeding crayfish unless you can treat them for parasites and quarantine for a month. Feeder fish are just as bad or even worse. To avoid feeding him diseased fatty feeder fish, I have been raising mollies in brackish water for feeders. Takes 2 more tanks and some work but worth it (if you check the Puffer Forum Pufferpedia entry, congos are piscivores- fish eaters).
