Is it actually possible to train an ornate to eat quality pellets (omega one sinking)? The owner at lfs said theyre eating guppies now. Opinions wanted!

I am working on mine now.

training your bichirs to eat pellets is definitely possible. you can even train them to eat floating pellets but it might take longer.

All mine eat pellets as staple part of their diet-Anne

hell yeah my three ornates (12-14"'s) and the rest of my bichirs all eat pellets that sink and shrimp or silversides and definitely love raw fish. they grow great and will eat just about everything u threw in there.:nilly: :headbang2 :WHOA:

Here's my albino. He loves shrimp pellets, Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets, and a bunch of other foods.

How do u get them started. I just bought hikari pellets, i put live feeders in to stimulate feeding wth a bunch of pellets inside. They ignore the pellets completely and went straight to the fishes. What should i do? do i let them starve a few days before putting in more pellets? Or are there any other methods?

My senegalus also love pellets and sticks :)

But they eat all i give them... from live food to pellets and sticks everything.

Stop feeding live foods all together. Starve them for a bit then you can try prepared food (silversides, freeze dried, cut up market shrimp, pellets). You will also need tons of patience. GL.:D
