So i was planning on moving everything over from my 55gallon to my 100 gallon, but i got a deal on a 165. I asked this before, but with different circumstances. Everything is coming out of my 55 and going into my 165. This includes 55 lbs of live rock, emperor 400, fluval 204, and some live sand. The 55 has been established for almost a year. Should i have to worry about a cycle with moving that much established bacteria in the media and the live rock? Only live stock that i have is a 3inch clown trigger.

i wouldnt be worried at all. You really dont even have to save any of the filters, sand or water... its a clown trigger lol , he will survive even if you try to kill the little bugger.

Just transfer it all over , you shouldnt have a cycle. Though even if you do have a cycle .... it wont really matter ...

Clown triggers aren't cheap. You should be fine moving everything from the 55 into the 165. You might want to add some more sand though. If so, put the new sand on the bottom first and than spread your current sand on top.

If you can, mix up as much new salt water as possible to make up for the difference in volume of the new tank.

He diffidently wasn't cheap. Thats why im worried about transferring and having a huge spike of ammonia or nitrites and it killing him.

If you can do the transfer quickly, you shouldn't have any problem with spikes.

Clown triggers are 30$ here. Search craigslist man , people here sell them daily and have mass stocks of them.

Not that im saying you want to risk it but i have a good story. So i was looking at my tank one day and i was doing a water change. My brother said he put some LR in my tank for me because he tore his down. It looked nice so i thought nothing of it. After water changes i wait 2 days and test my water. HOLY CRAP , the nitrate was off the chart , and i mean off. Yet the clown trigger was 2 inches , eating and doing fine. I later found out the LR was not cured and there was a lot of it , making my tank a toxic pool. The toxicity of the tank was so bad the whole room smelled like suflur. Dont underestimate the strength of any trigger and its will to live.

But yes you will have no problem. And yes its always good to do the best job you can ;)

Theoretically you should be fine because if you do it right, most of your BB will survive the move, and your bio load will be the same as it was before.

the transfer should go down good just do the transfer of sand then rock and add some water from the original tank about 25% or 35% then add fresh clean saltwater and be prepared for a small cycle but not enough of one to disturb the trigger just acclimate him well.

I would start up the 160 first fill it with sand and water take one filter off of your current tank and 1/2 the live rock wait a week then put the fish and 1/2 of the current water into the 160. Additionally disturbing the sandbed will release toxins into the water so I would consider further planning possibly a short term holding tank if sand bed is going to be moved. Better to be safe then sorry clown triggers are about 100-200 $ why risk it.
