What is the best way to transfer it? I am moving into my fist apartment tomorrow and im not sure how to safely transfer him. I only have one tank. So I have to take him out and put him somewhere while I set up the tank at the new place. Im not sure if its a good idea to put him in the water as soon as I get the tank set up, I dont want to cause shock. So whats a good place to put him while the water cycles through at the new place for a while?

how big is the tank? how big is the jar? i suggest moving this thread to the general aquaria discussion. but i was thinking bout puting the jar in some type of tub. then get 75% of the old water n transfer it into multiple containers. move the tank to the new house, put the water back in and then put jar back in.

:iagree: and since your jardini is 6" just net it and put it the bag with the old water and the rest of the water in containers and move tank like above XB aro said

You can increase your success rate by getting a power inverter for your car so you can run a small airpump w/ airstone in the bag/bucket while driving. It also reduces YOUR stress as it gives you a little more time/flexibility to get everything in your new place just right before you re-introduce him to the tank.

BTW, I personally prefer 2.5 gal ziplock bags in a 5gal bucket. Put the airstone in the bag and zip it shut. That way you get air for the fish, he can't jump/splash and the bucket protects against punctures/leaks and make it easier to carry.

o you can get a 5 gallon styrofoam box with a battery air pump for your Jardini. The get bins for the tank water

Get another tank (I've got a 20g you can borrow) move the fish and the filter to the 20g tank which has been filled with tank water from your 55g. You can now break down the 55g and move it to the new place get it completely set up. Then you can look at using some of the previously mentioned suggestions for moving the fish.
