I have a rather simple outline of an image that I would like to transfer onto a piece of steel in order to give me a clean, sharp outline to follow when I cut the image out of the steel. Does any one have any ideas or experience doing this sort of thing? I am not very steady handed unless there is a power tool in my hand, so tracing the paper probably won't work for me. Ideas?

Some dychem and a carbibe scribe are the usuall layout tools used for metal work.

But understand that if you are using a band saw or other saw to cut it out it will not be clean and smooth. You will need to take a sander or grinder around it to clean it up.

If you don't have the tools around then you could wet the paper cut out slightly and stick it to the metal. Then smooth it out and spray paint over it. Then remove the paper and cut the painted parts off.
