I'm planning to transfer my 5" aro to her new home, but could use some more
insight.
I was thinking filling half the tank with dechlor'ed water, do a 10 to 15% wc every other day on the old tank, use the old tank water to fill the rest of the new tank; and then just match temp. And PH.

Is this way a good procedure?

What size are the tanks? How many filters and what type do you have on the current tank with the arowana in it?

is the new tank even cycled?
put the arowana in a bag with the same tank water and acclimate to the new tank

You need to give alot more info, as you can see the confusion that can be drawn.

What has you water change schedule been, frequency and percentage, with your aro in it's current tank?

seems like you want to move your arowana to a larger tank? what i did was fill up the new tank with about 25% of new water and treated it with prime, transferred a filter system over along with just some dirty pads/gravel what not from other tank to help start up it up and let it run for a day or two.

after that i just added all the water from my other tank into the new one. no need to worry about cycling your tank as long as the other one has already been up and running for awhile.

i did this for my 100 to 150 gallon tank and had no problems at all.

good luck

thank you.

150 gallon with a fluval fx5

errr may be bad advise but i don't climatize fish when i move my fish between my home aquariums (only when they come from elsewhere).

use a soft net (or better yet chase the fish into plastic bag).

I think with small arowana acclimation is highly recommended. Myself I would move as much old tank water to the new tank, then move the aro and slowly fill the rest of the tank with new water. If the aro is used to 50% WCs this will go off without fail.
