I currently have a 5 inch Tiger Oscar and High Fin Pleco in a 55 gallon tank. I'm looking to transfer them to a 75 gallon tank I recently aquired. I've cycled many tanks before, but this one is a problem because I am planning on using the stand the 55 gallon is on, therefore, need to move the fish into the new tank the same day I set it up. I am using the same exact filters from my 55, (since it's enough for 150 gallons), same gravel, same decor, same everything; will this be ok since it's not a huge jump in tank size? Thanks for any insight.

yes should be fine just be careful when moving the fish as i recently moved mine and now i have to cure them of white spot from the tap water so use the water they are already in. also what filter are you going to run on the temporary tank? as they cant survive more than a few hours without a filter or heater! good luck Btw and post some pics! i would like to see the end product

just be cafeful here because the 75 is 6" wider than the 55. unless your stand is already 18" wide it won't work. it will be too 'tippy'.

as far as cycling goes, just transer everything over. leave your filter media untouched to keep max. bacteria in it.

you should be fine. swapping like that shouldn't cause any problems. all your bacteria are still going to be fine (just don't let your gravel or filter media dry out).

good luck

^^^^What 12voltman said, theres really no use or benefit to using your water cycled as the bacteria in the filter media is what supporst the bio load.

i have doe it many times by just miving every thing over to the new tank, you will be fine.

I need help with the process of setting up new tank and then transferring my fish over!
