Hi y'all, this is my first post here so be gentle ;P

In 2 weeks I'll be upgrading my main tank from a 55g (4x1x1.4) to a 95G (6x1x1.5). My question is if I transfer 2 canister filters (1 with a custom wet/dry tank top return), substrate, rocks, driftwood etc. with little/no time in transferring to the new tank, do I still need to cycle the tank?

Also, I also plan to chuck some Purigen into one of the canisters just prior to the move...

Just transfer everything you have in your current one to your new one and you should be good. Try to keep the canister running as Long as you can because your BB can die within an hour of canister not running. Keep us updated and hope everything works out for you.

no cycle needed, and you only need to transfer the canisters if you want to change the others.

BB will NOT die after an hour, as water stays in the canister. It will die over time but not that fast.

siphon the water in ur tank now to the bigger one and just fill the rest with tap and use seachem stabilizer & prime. i'd look at it as a huge water change lol

Just do as you plan and you'll be fine. Old water won't help and stability will be a waste since your filters are already cycled.

Thanks for the advice peep's. Very happy that I don't need to stress my fella's out too much between moves... I'll let y'all know how it pans out :)

no reason to use old water . . . hardly any BB resides in it. It won't be a big water change if you add all the old water. Yuck.

But all the food for the BB is in your old water. Thats why we do partial changes not full. Keep almost all your old water as it will be half of your new tanks volume, like a %50 wc.
