In the past 20 over years this river is rich in sources,especially for the peoples in Nakorn Sawan.But today,thing have changed.The senior ther saying that during thier chilhood day there still a quite numbers of ST can be found and during thier adulthood the numbers has drop dramacally.They said that they has caught ST from 4-6 kilo per-piece before and it no joke.The villages said that ST is a very tasty fish,that make ST a prize fish at all time,so people hunt ST at all times and that make ST become extinc from these river.So the Govermant started to ban this speciment in the year of 1997.
ST can be found in Thailand,Burma,Cambodia and Veitnam.In Thailand ST can be found in the central of Thailand like Bunaphet in Nakorn Sawan,river Nam and on the eastern side of Thailand is river Mekong,river Chi and so on.ST from Bunaphet is consider the most beautiful as it has better yellow and sizes,because of over fishing for this fish it is already exticted.Today ST kept by hobbiest is from Cambodia or Veitnam.In the wild ST loved to live in deep water and they are fast in hunting for food.Thse make the villages called it the tiger king of the river.
 
ST divided into three catagory as Wide Bars,Thin Bars and Double Bars (Indo).Wide Bar is found in the central of Thailand like river Nak,river Pak Sak,river Noi,river Yok in Ampher Sai Yok Kanchanaburi.Mekong river,river Auk,river Chi,river Songkram, river in Loas and the basin in Cambodia.ST has six to seven black bars but the seven bars is undisirable for fish hobbiest.While thin bars is also found in the Southern of Veitnam,Cambodia,Mekong river,river Chi and River Songkram.

The Fishery of Thailand is studying how to breed this fish and to release it back to the nature.In the wild ST will swim slowly and hide under dead woods,branches and stone.The expert said that when choosing an ST,the most important part is the strong yellow and a balancing black bars.They like very clean water and that make the ST still can't breed in captivity as they will lay eggs in a clean and deep water.In captivity the tank is to swallow and the mud pond is to muddy for them to breed.The Fishery of Thailand trying very hard to breed them and until today is still unsuccecfully.In the wild ST like to live in a quite,clean,deep and still water and will move to other places when the season changes.Female will have more round body and poportion like squre and male is more longer in body look more rectangular in shape.
