Its been around 2-3 weeks since i got this ZZ juvie and ever since, its tail end has been transparent. Its not torn or anything, just transparent. He's around 2.5 inches now and eats like a pig.Never fed with live feeders and is fasted twice a week.I tried adding salt, raising temp, adding yellow mediation for dropsy but this remains and fish is very happy and aggressive,if not a bit too aggressive. Can any bro help me identify the problem?

Also, did a tank change yesterday and hence the strong stress bars, but the bars never disappear as such though fades very much, why is it so?Not high quality fish i suppose?

Looks bloated, large meal before picture? And about the stress bars it's still probably settling in, a mirror 30 mins a day, clean water, cover(driftwood etc) and more time should all help his coloration

transparent tail would be genes related. its still a very beautiful f/h, i would be very happy with him regardless

is a translucent tail undesirable?
i dont get it , eats good, is nasty, whats the issue here

Clean water surley wont stress your fish for a day aslong as tank is cycled and proper water treatment is added accordingly! It may take 10 or so min to complety displace and buffer the fresh water but low nitrates are a fishes best friend!

I have arranged to feed him small amounts of food many times a day, say 2 -3 pellets at a time, he doesn't remain unfed for more than 3 hours and once a week would fast him completely.Hope this is not a disease or anything, especially not bloat.....am gonna fast him for 48 hours+ and see if his belly gonna go down. With fasting a day, its not and hence, fingers crossed.

I notice this when the tank is dirty or the fish is stressed out. I would suggest a nice big water change.

He maybe stressed but doesn't show any other signs for the same.He is simply attacking anything and everything moving near the tank, cannot put food in without him jumping up all the way to bite finger, pout a clown loach and he started attacking him like crazy so had to take him out.

Thanx a lot bro....just that FHs are very prone to strange diseases and require utmost attention, just checking on each and every weird behaviour/sign.Am totally happy and content with him otherwise.:)

Will keep that in mind bro.... :) Thanx a lot for the advice.

I wounder could you try to get breed for that genes transparent tail that

Couldn't see the parents, so cannot know for sure mate whether its genes or not.

im sure its from increase in growth size because wen i started feeding mine a bit more hes increase in size alot faster and noticed hes tail end coloration going transparent so im guessing color hasnt catched up to its size growth
