I am going to be giving my 7" Tiger Oscar to my sister tonight, so I will have to drive about 45min to get it to her. I plan on putting it in a 5 gallon bucket and that's about it. I dont have a batter powered air pump, but I think that the movement of the car(surface movement) and fact that its only 45 minute drive that it should last the trip fine.

Do you think the trip will be fine?

I was also thinking of using a trash bag as a lining in the bucket in case I have any sudden stopping in my car to prevent it from hitting the side of bucket (also to prevent sloshing of water all over my car if I knot the bag), should I do this or is it unnecessary?

bucket doesnt have lid, hence the bag. But do have a spare cooler that will be perfect, good idea.

I also use a cooler but buckets are fine for short trips.

Great idea to use a cooler box !! I usually use a 10 gallon bucket with a nice tight fitting lid .... made for brewing beer in. It works well, but is only about 10" across, being tall and narrow. For bigger fish a cooler box will work really well, as well as obviously helping keep the temp stable.
