I'm in the process of moving (about an hours drive),and I'm going to transfer my media from a cycled tank to a new setup at the new place..I'm wondering if I keep the media in water will it be ok for the hours drive? Any other steps or precautions I need to take? Also it will be a few weeks even after I add the media until I add fish..should I keep throwing food in there until I put fish in? Thanks for the help

Transport them in water from your cycled tank and they should be fine but im not too sure how they will do w/o oxygen or if that matters

Either way, you can always use a product like Seachem's stability to rapidly add BB prior to adding fish in the new tank

Yeah I'm trying to cycle the tank as fast as possible but I've never used any of the BBs in a bottle but I'm open to anything

Use the Seachem product, it works.
Unlike most other BB products on the market, this one's bacteria is alive but not active until it hits the water, meaning you do not need to keep it refrigerated nor feed them.

Called Stabilty. Works great.

You should be ok for an hour drive. Maybe get a battery operated air pump for the trip.

My water changes on our big tank can take 2 1/2 hours so I run a small air pump on the sump while the tank is off.

When I've had to move media I just put a battery bubbler in a 5gal bucket and dump the ceramic rings etc on top ..

I have moved my tanks several times - the longest over an hour and halfs drive away and all I did was keep the media in the tank water it came fro in a bucket (for my cansiter I just left water in the canister and moved it) and set the system back up when I got it to its destination. I never had any issues. Fish went in within a few days with no problems either. If you are uneasy about it you can get a battery powered air pump but I didn't find it necessary for the media. I would not let it sit for to long though once you get it to its destination - if you plan to wait a few hours before bothering to set it up then I would just put an airpump on it when you get to your destination.

I'd reply, but it would essentially just be an echo of Ash's post. :)

Moved to setup and filtration.
