Hi...i have a colony of fontosa juvanile's which have been rubbing against the coral sand of late..there's no signs of ick or any abrasions on the fish..but there is some rapid fin flicking. the scratching is quite light..
i was going to add some salts with my next water change this saturday..the tank is a 260L..and i change 60-70L every saturday. im wondering if the salts will have a negative effect on the other fish in my tank..there's a Tanganyikan Leopard Eel, A. elipsifer,3 synodontis cats and 2 common pleco's.
im also wondering if i should do a full salt treatment? of just add a small quatity maybe enough for a 100L tank...has anyone any advice?

thanks
Andy

Its beneficial for african cichlids to add some aquarium salt to the tank. I use one level tablespoon of salt per 40 L of water.

add a little salt and raise the temp up 2 degrees every day, it should quickly go away, thats what i do, if you get ick-remover from a store it will kill your eel

why would he get ick when there are no signs of it?
i recommend dissolving the salt in water before you add it to the tank

i dont have ick in my tank! im just adding salts to boost the fish's mucous levels..1 table spoon per 40L sounds great i wasn't sure exactly how much..how often would you add this salt? every week? or monthly maybe? ..I would have overdosed somewhat on that front..much appreciated..thanks for the advice!
I assume the eel or synodontis wont suffer from adding salt. thanks
