I've been trying to get my dats on pellets. One of them (about 5inches) has started to get what i think is ich. Is got white blotches over it's head and it's tail is looking like it's got fin rot. I think it's becuase of stress over food and TBH the water probably isn't a clean as it should be. I have been doing my weekly WC but the white fillter cotton hasn't been changed for a long time so it was minging. I've change it now and have just done a WC plus added salt just in case for the other fish.
I've got lots of other fish in the tank but only this one is showing signs of illness. I just got some ghost shrimp and all dats ate.
My questions, I have a very small tank which i've just set up for a treatment tank. It's about 10 gal. I have a simple corner fillter in it and i've treated the water with Rot Stop which contains Malachite Green and Formaldehyde. Will this be ok? Will i have any issues because the treatment tank is not cycled?
I plan to keep the dat in it for 3 days and i am thinking i'll need to change water 50% every day.
I want to take it out of the main tank because i have my RTG and 6 clowns, plus my other 2 NTTs, if they all start getting ill i've got real problems.
I can't buy prima or milafix here, only the type of meds metioned above.
Advice welcome.
