Wondering what people’s experience have been with nursing back beaten up fish by another tankmate.

I have a 6-7 inch jardini that looks like it went through a blender over night. Main suspect is my pike. And I won’t be putting them back together but I’m now most concerned with just saving him. Half his tail is missing, his eyes almost look sunk and he puked his food up from the day before. His was pretty stagnant this morning and still is.

I have separated by itself and added salt with increased temp but I cannot get him to eat anything.

Can I do anything else or do I just have to wait?

I had a spotted raphael that got thrashed by a BNP. Wounds looked like they exposed bone. I dosed the hospital tank with kanaplex after doing a meth blue bath. The tank remained at full kanaplex dosage for over a week. The spotted is all healed up now.

If you see external injuries then I would treat with Seachem kanaplex. If you don't see any external injuries, then treat for 1 week with methylene to speed up recovery. I bet his insides are pretty bruised, pikes are brutal when they attack relentlessly.

It may not eat for 1 week or 2.

I had a goldfish that got destroyed by a leporinus and crayfish. Separating it seemed to do the trick, and it healed up very nicely.
That same leporinus got shredded by a piranha and simply letting it heal on its own (i didn’t even remove it from the piranha, stupid but Leps heal fast, and was dominant) worked. Only evidence of the attack now is his missing eye.
Best thing you can do is get it in its own clean tank.

Sounds like it may be the beginning of popeye.

I separate right away to my hospital tank and just monitor very closely. Very clean water is the key ...alot of wc with same temp water. If the fish is predatory sometimes they lose their appetite after a beating. So with fish like my atfs when they started fighting I even put in a bunch of feeders so they can eat at their leisure. Lights off most of time. With bacterial meds on standbys. For that eye there are a few meds u can use . Maybe triple sulfa or even melodic or pimafix

I don’t see how that’s possible
Popeye can occur due to injury. If it got bit in the eye or hit it, it can get popeye. It happened to my green terror.
