help. I am having major fish and tank issues. Grrrrr
I have not had tank issues in over a year. &%%$%^&* geesh!

I have a 125 gal, 6 ft tank
and a hospital tank set up for an O with mild case of HITH.
O - 8-10 inches
2 severum's - 5 in.

almost 2 weeks ago I traded into the LFS a fish that was bullying my tank. I found a beautiful pair of turq. severums, I brought them home. 9 days later they showed signs of ick in the 125 gal. then my O in my hospital tank showed ick spots. I guess I moved water from one tank to another and passed on the ick!

I have 2 Xlrg red hook SD in the tank with the severums. The ick bottle gives different dosing directions for tetras. severums are not tetras... so I dosed 2 days. 1 SD is looking funny.... I looked it up ... SD are tetras. HOw do I continue to treat the tank...

I have a seperate tank.... but am using it for the O. I can put the O back in her 125 tank. but I don't want to stress her by moving her around. should I move the SD to the hospital tank and treat the O and the severums.... this hospital tank is 36x18x12 a 29 gal I think. and treating the 125 tank takes way more meds. don't forget the O has never met the severums.

help please...
I should treat for ick this morning but I will hold off.... Please Respond.

and
Thank You Very Much for your Time!!!

Thanks for the info Lupin. That is great info.

one of my severums was almost black in color and floating at the top sorta sideways. I needed meds right away, raising the temp and salt was not working fast enough.

Quick Cure ingredients: malachite green, formalin

Question... the directions say give Tetras 1/2 the dosage as the other fish.... I have SD and SA cichlids. I don't want to stress my SD but need my severums to get better.

one of my SD had a large dark spot on him appear after day 24 hours of treatment, I think it must be from the Quick Cure. Will over medicating the SD potentially hurt them? or Should I remove them from the tank?

over medicating with Q.C. could kill your silver $'s, your definitialy in a sticky situation.

I would say get a tank divider and split the 125, and very gently move the oscar to one side and the sevrums to the other. Treat this tank with Q.C. or if it isn't working fast enough Ich-X is even stronger. But with either of these meds your going to want to increase temp into the mid 80's and get some air stones crankin in the tank.

The silver $'s can then go in the other tank. You can use straight Formalin at full strength on the silvers and they'll be fine. Definitialy raise the temp to the mid 80's and get tons of air in that tank.

Both systems are likely going to crash soon after you start medicating so youre going to have to be religious with your water changes every day or every other day.

Good luck!
