i have a african brown knife fish and some cory's some sword tails a bichir and some glass fish non dyed. i have i know both corys and brown knife are sensitive to treatment. but i have QuICK Cure, clout, melafix...

im got two heaters going but for salt can i use instant ocean salt and what dose for my knife cory and other fish???

i need some advice quick... i dont want my boys dieng... i heard i can treat at half does....:(

I use table salt. It doesn't matter whether it has iodine or not as iodine is not an issue contrary to popular beliefs. Dose a tablespoon per 5g of salt but please be sure to dissolve it thoroughly first and add slowly to the tank. Increase temperature by as high as 84 degrees making sure your fish can tolerate the temperature.

I agree, just add table or aquarium salt, and bump the heat slowly up to about 84-86 degrees. Definitely don't use clout, as it's a really strong medication.

No, I believe there is a difference. I've never heard of anyone using instant ocean salt for a freshwater tank. I think it would be better to use aquarium or table salt. I could be wrong though. Maybe nobody uses instant ocean salt because it's more expensive.....I don't know .

Yes, it's aquarium salt but it's got other minerals in it to make the water hard & raise the pH. Which most likely wouldn't hurt the fish but isn't neccessary if you've got table salt on hand. Given the choice between the 2 I'd probably go with the table salt.
