TREATING ICK!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just raise the temp to 85+ for a couple weeks and wait it out.

The salts can help but aren't necessary. Its pretty much all about raising the temps to speed up the life cycle of the ich bacteria .

Keep treating after the sypmtoms have gone away too. the bacteria lives longer than the visible signs

x2 I found adding salt makes sensitive fish in particular gasp a lot... I increase the temp in increase water changes to remove the free swimming larval stages that die/crippled to keep water quality up and the infestation low until you kill it off. Once I cut out the salt I noticed no difference in the time it takes to clear it up but lost way fewer fish to Ick.

idk what thread but this was discussed in pretty deep detail a few times now.

I used this on my Oscar and it cleared it up in 2-3days but its pretty hard core stuff and caused it to get catch fin rot slightly so I fixed that with melafix and it was perfect buy the end if the week I highly recommend it but its not save for invertebrates uploadfromtaptalk1370795483407.jpg
