How long do i wait to put the Carbon back in, I usuaully move all fish to a sick tank, but i got fin rot on one of the Oscars, so i decided to just treat the whole tank, with Fungus Clear from Jungle, is that a good treatment to begin with, It was all Petsmart had at the time, and didnt want my fin rot to get serious. The carbon has been about for about a day, when should i put it back in?

Well you should leave the carbon out as long as you are still treating the tank. But usually to treat fin and tail rot... i use Melafix & Pimafix... Works really great!!

Carbon is mainly good for 1 thing... removing chemicals such as medication from the water.

Add carbon when you are finished with your treatment.

depending on what kind of a filter you have, I would only put the carbon back in when you are done treating and use some sort of a bio filter (like a sponge) when the meds are removed. I dont know how true it is, but ive heard that carbon can actually harm oscars.

Oscars are sensitive to carbon, apparently it aggravates the sensory pits and can lead to HITH, Read the medicine bottle, treat as long as instructions say to, then add carbon and do a partial water change, after a couple days I would remove the carbon. I only use it to remove meds and with a hang on filter I replace the charcoal with smaal fragments of lava rock in a cloth pouch. This acts as media for additional bacterial growth.

it is not necessary to have carbon in your tank. it seems to me majority of the time it does more damage than good.

only use it to get rid of medication as Peacock Bass suggested.
