Hey guys, I have a tank that im trying to set up but my tap water is horrible. I have some nitrate, nitrite, EXTREMELY hard water, high pH, and high Alkalinity.
I was going to buy;

Prime Water Conditioner

Blackwater extract
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=4085

But then the website has 3 store brands of its own conditioner, doesn't seem like its better than Prime, why do they need 3? What do you guys think of it? Thanks!

The quantities "some" and "high" are not very quantitative and are very much based on your perspective. For anyone to give you quality advise, we will need to know your test results.

If your water is truly 'horrible' according to the parameters you listed then you need to consider a RO unit. Water conditioners and neutralizers will not do it for you.
