I just noticed my tigrinus catfish is breathing kinda fast and heavy and his appetite hasn't been as good as it has been. I'm real weary cuz this is how my first tig started acting and ended up dying a couple weeks later. He's about 8" or so (w/o streamers) and eating mp stuffed with massivore pellets. I feed him every other day or so. Water parameters are all OK with ph 7.0.

I read an old post where somebody said their tig had the same symptoms and tetracycline did the trick. I just wanted to get your guys advice on this and if you think it's OK to treat the entire tank with the rest of his tank mates.

Thanks in advance

I would try to figure out the cause of the problem first? I thought tetracycline was just for internal diseases. Breathing hard could just be stressed or bad water conditions? I used the tetracycline powder and made a little medicated feed for my catfish when he was sick. Used tuna and just stirred it around with the powder. Good luck.

Thanks for your input Ashley. Like I said I had a tig before who had the same symptoms who died on me. To this day I still don't know what killed him. Initially I thought it was iodine poisoning from the shrimpI was feeding him but I put that guy in a Q tank, did water changes, increased temp, added blackwater extract...etc, and he still died on me. I just want to nip this in the butt before it gets too bad.
