SO I was reading some older posts about treating wood and i got the general consensus soaking for a few days...anyways my piece I just got is about 2 feet long its actually pretty cool its like an old stump. Anyways. I put it in a rubermaid container and filled it with water, and Im just goign to let it sit there for a couple days, and change the water a couple times a day. Anyways My question is....Since I have to wait it down to stay in the container How am i going to weigh it down when I put it inside of my tank??? Will it Just soak water in, and end up staying submerged? thanks

You could glue it with silicone to a rock. Could also use fishing line to attach it to rocks. After a few months it will sink on its own.

I have sped up the tanin removal process, and the soaking up of water to speed up its the weighing-down-process by using hot water in the soaking process. Mix half boiling water with half tap hot water. This will give you water at around 160 degrees, which will soften the plastic container over time. and might ruin it for any future strength use, but it will quicken the two processes.

Be extremely careful with the boiling water. It will burn, scald, boil, etc human skin, tissues, organs, limbs, children, pets, etc.

yeah haha hot water isnt exactly fun to spill on yourself. I guess I will just try it out and see what happens. I wa sjust curious because it barely will stay in the container i have to use a rock to weigh it down....so
