Looks like a heater burn Do frequent water changes. Add a little bit of aquarium salt. Watch out for infection. I'd use half of what salt dosage calls for because cats don't have scales they can be a bit sensitive to the salt . It looks bad but as long as the cat is healthy and eating good it should look better in a few days

After looking at the pics more, that cat looks a bit skinny and does it have gill curl? How big is it, what size tank, and what is the the filtration and water change schedule?

+1 the body does look skinny compared to the size of its head, but it looks ulcerous to me

They're are in a 150 right now. I picked him and a red tail up from some guy. I usually do water changes once a week and I feed my fish blood worms and beef hearts. It has a huge homemade filter that has a 750 pump on it. The filtration is perfect.

All the fish I have right now in the tank are perfect and healthy. I just don't want to mess around with any chemicals or any solutions that will mess my water up or anything to hurt my other fish. Will it just heal over time with good water conditions?

I've had him for a couple days and I haven't really seen him or the red tail eat... I've tried blood worms, beef hearts, live fish. I don't know what else to try

i'm sure they are a little stressed from the move and a diff environment. the one is probably not eating because of whatever is going on with him. i'm sure i'm not telling you anything you don't already know. i have a 3ft green moray that will eat on schedule for months and then suddenly will stop eating all together. sometimes for a whole month! every fish seems to only eat when they are ready. as far as the affected area, i agree with the ulcer look like chefwill.
